When the time is right we'll take over District Noir. We'll run this city. Only thing is...someone else is trying to do the same. 🔍
District Noir is a set collecting, bluffing, two-player game with a sleek sense of style and an addictive gameplay loop.
Things are simple. You have five cards in your hand varying in positive and negative numbers. There are also 3 cards with buildings on them that will automatically win you the game if you get all 3.
Each round (4 in total) has both players take 6 turns. 5 of those turns will be playing one card to the center row. One of those turns will be grabbing the 5 right-most cards and putting them in front of you.
Whomever has the majority of each type of card will get to score them. 5's, 6's, 7's, and 8's. There are also cards with positive numbers and ones with negatives that will increase or decrease your score at the end. You will also get 5 points for each set of 5-8 in your collection of cards at the end of the game.
I love games where timing is key. Knowing exactly when to pick up those 5 cards or when to play cards in hopes your opposition will play just one more is such a tense and fun game of back and forth. There are times you can even force your opponents hand so you can grab the 3 building cards and claim victory!
It's such a short and addicting little game you'll more than likely play best 2 out of 3. It's small enough to bring to a café or on a trip, and easily accessible for anyone. With it's attractive art and clean rules it's one that is sure to stick around in our two-player rotation for years to come.
